200 word blurb about you (a quick fun piece on your involvement in athletics and your life outside of it)

Who is Nikkita? I am a mother to an amazingly smart little boy named Kaedence who just loves people. He has truly been a blessing, I often say “God knew what he was doing when he created him”

Outside of being a mom and athlete you can find me writing. I carry a pen and pad of paper with me at all times. Writing is something I found I was good at, not only was I good at it but it was my best form of communication. I write to relax, discover and release, I’m an avid journal/diary writer and proud!

Track and field has been a huge part of my life. I got involved with track at the young age of 7, running school track. I joined my first track club (Oshawa legions now named Durham legion Athletics) at the age of 12. This is also the age I started hurdling and never looked back. Ironically enough when I started hurdling I hated it. My coach at the time decided that I needed to separate myself from everyone else; he used to be a hurdler so hurdling it was. 16 years later I won my first international medal on home soil at the 2015 Pan American Games held in Toronto.
