AO Indoor Championship Series Meet #1

It’s a new year, and we’re excited to be kicking off our first Championship this weekend. The meet will include a Combined Events Championship, U16 Dual Meet trials, as well as a high performance prep meet. Over the weekend, more than 600 athletes will gather to compete at the Toronto Track and Field Centre.

Athletes, the final schedule is now available. Please review the windows to check in before your events, and do not forget to do so. You will not be eligible to compete if you don’t check in.

Merchandise will be available for purchase! Cash or credit will be accepted forms of payment should you wish to purchase something from our merchandise tent.

Coaches Passes – no need to sign up for one, as long as your membership is active for the year, you will have access to a pass. Please bring your old coaching pass with you, we will stamp it to be reused for this indoor season.

Spectators – please remember that we will be charging $5/day for spectators to view the meet in the gallery.

U16 Dual Team

Athletes attending the U16 Dual Meet trials portion of the event, we are excited to share that we have selected our coaching staff who will lead you at the meet. They will be in attendance at the meet this weekend should you wish to introduce yourself or if you have any questions.

This weekend we are expecting some extreme cold temperatures, along with snow on Saturday. Please keep an eye on the weather, and allow yourself extra travel time. We will not be postponing our schedule to account for any late arrivals. 

Athletes to Anticipate

As always, we have so many tremendous athletes registered to compete this weekend. Here are a few to keep your eye on throughout the meet:

Myles Misener-Daley – Hamilton Olympic Club

  • Set a new Canadian record with a time of 45.99s at the 2018 OFSAA Championships in Toronto
  • Recently signed with UCLA, where he will be attending next year
  • Finished 1st in 2018 Indoor U18 Boys 60m with a time of 6.99s
  • Finished 1st in 2018 Indoor U18 Boys 200m with a time of 22.09s

Brittany Crew – York Lions

  • First meet since her 2018 season was cut short when she broke her foot
  • Holds the Canadian Indoor record for Open Women’s Shot Put, with a throw of 18.16m

Harley Martin – Saugeen Track and Field Club

  • Ranked 4th provincially in the U16 Girls Shot Put with a mark of 10.17m
  • Achieved a personal best of 10.77m Outdoors in the U16 Girls Shot Put at the Ontario Summer Games last year
  • Will also compete in the U16 Girls Weight Throw, seeded at a distance of 12.90m

Jaheim Ferguson – Durham Legion T.F.C.

  • Competed on the 2018 Team Ontario (U16) vs Quebec Dual Match team
  • Ranked Second place in Canada with a mark of 13.86 in the 100m Hurdles
  • Marked 13.86s in the OFSAA Track & Field Championships, in Toronto, Canada in the Men’s 100m Hurdles

Gracelyn Larkin – Central Toronto Athletic Club

  • Will compete in both the Women’s 1500m and 3000m
  • PB of 4:52.05 in the Women’s 1500m Indoor Sharon Anderson Memorial event last year
  • PB of 4:41.50 in the Women’s 1500m at the AO U14/U16/U18 Championship Event

Joshua Cunningham – Speed Academy Club

  • Was named to the 2018 Canadian team that competed at NACAC in Toronto
  • Ranked 1st at the Meadville Gator Invitational in the United States in May 2018 with a time of 10.87s in the 100m
  • Ranked 1st at the Athletics Ontario Championships in Toronto in June 2018 with a time of 48.12s in the 400m
  • Ranked 1st at the Fayetteville Tyson Invitational in the United States in February 2018 with a time of 47.07s in the 400m (Indoor)
  • Ranked 1st in the National Championships in Ottawa, Canada with a time of 46.19s in July 2018 in the Men’s 400m
