AO/OMA Trillium Running Series – Race 1

Race #1: Robbie Burns 8km

It’s a New Year and we have brought our Athletics Ontario membership a new and improved running series!

Our first race of the AO/OMA Trillium Running Series came and went with a winter storm. The Robbie Burns 8km Road Race is an Ontario spectacle, an annually sold-out race, and they once again, delivered a fantastic event.  Congratulations to all participants who braved the cool temperatures and challenging winter conditions on Saturday in Burlington!

This year, we opened up the Trillium Series to all Athletics Ontario members for a united AO “race within a race.”  Congratulations to our top 3 male AO winners; 1st place was Blair Morgan, age 25, from Hamilton, in a time of 25:36; 2nd was Nicholas Mota, age 17, of Newmarket Huskies, in a time of 25:48; and 3rd was Andrew Davis, age 18, of Sarnia, in a time of 25:52.  In the Female race, 42-year-old Krista Duchene of Brantford was the first AO member through the finish, with a time of 29:55, followed by 43-year-old Seanna Robinson of Toronto in 31:02, and then 17-year-old Julia Cameron in a time of 32:37.

Also new this year, we have unofficial Age-Graded standings.  With the Robbie Burns 8km being the first of many in the series, the year has begun with our top 3 age-graded overall results from this past weekend were: 1st, Nicholas Mota, 2nd Diane Morrow, and 3rd Andrew Davis.

Our next race of the Series takes us up to Craigleith Ski Club for the Canadian Snowshoe Champioinship.  Learn more about the event by visiting our website.
