Proof of Vaccination No Longer Required for Athletics Ontario Events & Activities
Updated: Monday, March 21, 2022
Following the provincial government’s announcement that the Covid-19 vaccine mandate was ending on March 1, Athletics Ontario will no longer require proof of vaccination at its indoor and outdoor events and activities. With respect to masking, although the provincial government has announced that mandatory masking will end (with the exception of specific public spaces) on March 21, in the interest of ensuring the health and safety of its athletes, officials and volunteers, Athletics Ontario and its Board of Directors have determined that masking will be required at all events and activities through April 30, 2022. This decision is aligned with the provincial directive that allows organizations and businesses to continue to require masking should they believe it to be in the best interests for health and safety.
Athletics Ontario continues to be committed to ensuring an environment with the highest level of safety for its athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers and fans and as such, encourages all eligible Ontarians to be fully vaccinated. Athletics Ontario – like all Ontarians – is thrilled to see life returning to a more normal state, however is aware that we are still dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. Athletics Ontario and its Board of Directors will continue to monitor the situation, adjusting guidelines if/when needed – and support compliance with all local or municipal guidelines.
