This past Sunday, so many of our tremendous athletes gathered at Seneca King Campus to race in the 2019 Athletics Ontario and Ontario Masters Cross Country Championships. It was a great day and we are extremely proud of all of our athletes and it was a fantastic end to the 2019 season.
In the U14 Girls 2k race, Emily Cescon of the University of Toronto won the gold for her second year in a row, improving on her time from last year and running the course in 8:33. Kyla Martin, of South Simcoe Dufferin Track Club moved up to the U16 division this year, and after earning a bronze in the U14 category last year, she took the gold this time around, with a time of 17:55. Up in the U20 Women’s division, Abbey Yuhasz of Laurel Creek T.F.C. just won a gold in the OFSAA Cross Country race last weekend, and added another one to it this weekend with a time of 30:50.
In the U16 boys division, after having a tremendous outdoor season and winning the Athlete of the Year title at our Awards Gala, Riley Flemington came out strong. His time of 15:53 was good for gold. Dakota Goguen, of Newmarket Huskies, is another strong distance runner who had a fantastic race. The only athlete to come in under 20 minutes, running a time of 19:58, he earned the gold!
For another year, your overall 2019 Club Cross Country Champion was the Newmarket Huskies Track Club. They hosted another fantastic event, running on time all day, it was a great day.

Canadian Cross Country Championships
Sunday November 17 is the deadline to declare to be a part of Team Ontario at the Canadian Cross Country Championships! The event will take place in Abbotsford, British Columbia, on Saturday November 30, 2019.
We are excited to announce additionally, that Darl Sutherland will be representing Team Ontario as our Head Coach at the event!
