Athletics Ontario prides itself on providing our athletes the best opportunities to meet our athlete developmental plan. Team Ontario provides athletes with new, competitive opportunities to gain the experience needed to compete nationally and internationally. Being selected for a provincial team is an excellent achievement in a competitive environment.

As the recognized Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) for Athletics in the province, Athletics Ontario (AO) is committed to providing structured high-performance programming with the overall goal of placing more Ontario athletes in the Olympic, Paralympic, World Championship, and World Para Athletics Championship teams and podiums. To achieve this goal, AO has developed a high-performance pathway and plan aligned with Athletics Canada (AC) to lead the way for athlete development in the province. ONTARIO  vs QUÉBEC DUAL MEET – ATHLETE TEAM SELECTION

This annual event is a highly anticipated competition between Ontario and Québec that gives U16 athletes (younger athletes may be added to the team at the sole discretion of the Selection Committee) a chance to live the excitement of a team environment while competing in a friendly scoring competition. This is a development team, so athletes should fall within the Train to Train athlete development category.

The 2025 edition of the Dual Meet will be held on February 1st, 2025, at the Complexe Sportif Claude-Robillard in Montréal, Québec, allowing Team Ontario athletes to travel outside the province for the competition.

We’re thrilled to share that the qualification period and athlete declaration portal are now open. We encourage all coaches, athletes, and parents to review the full Athlete Selection Criteria to understand the requirements and expectations before declaring.

2. The athlete declaration deadline is January 12th, 2025 11:59 p.m. Without exception, no late declarations will be accepted.

ONTARIO vs QUÉBEC DUAL MEET – TEAM STAFF

2025 CANADA SUMMER GAMES

In a place like no other, St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada’s easternmost city, will host a Canada Games like no other! From August 8th to 25th, the 2025 Canada Games invites Canadians to come and connect through friendship, sport, adventure and the experience that is Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Canada Games is a prestigious national competition held every four years, offering U24, Para, and Special Olympics athletes the chance to represent Ontario in a multi-sport event and compete in a team environment. The 2025 edition will feature 19 sports, with Athletics scheduled from August 19th to 23rd. This is a high-performance development opportunity for athletes, and participants should align with the “Train to Compete” stage of the athlete development pathway. It’s an exciting chance to showcase talent and compete at the highest level!

Before the team is selected, Athletics Ontario is currently accepting applications for the Team Ontario Staff, including:

• One (1) Head Coach
• Four (4) Assistant Coaches
• One (1) Para Coach

The 2025 Canada Summer Games Team Staff Selection Criteria document can be found HERE. Please be sure to ready the entire document prior to submitting an application for a Team Staff role.

1. We strongly recommend that all interested Team Staff review the full Team Staff Selection Criteria to ensure they understand the requirements and expectations before submitting their application.
2. The deadline to apply is Friday, November 22, 2024 at 12 noon ET. Without exception, late applications will not be accepted.
