Athletics Ontario Announces the Passing of Mike Forgrave

The track and field community mourns the loss of former national team member, Mike Forgrave. Most recently known as an expert pedorthist, he has been the pedorthic consultant to a number of national and professional sports teams including Athletics Canada and the San Diego Chargers. He was the Head of the Foot and Ankle Clinic at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, and has provided orthotics to hundreds of track and field athletes in Ontario and beyond.

However, Mike also had a rich history in the 400m and 400m hurdles, having won six OFSAA medals, 2 Interscholastic records, 2 Canadian Junior golds and a Canadian Senior title, a Canadian Juvenile record and a spot on the Pacific Conference Games team in Australia. He was a semi-finalist in 400 m hurdles at the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton and won a position on the 1980 Olympic team that unfortunately boycotted the Moscow Games. A member of the Waterloo men’s track and field team, he still holds the school record for the 600m.

Athletics Ontario sends our condolences to Sylvia and Mike’s family and friends.  Mike will be remembered as an outstanding athlete and a great supporter of Athletics in Canada.
