Athletics Ontario (AO) offers its members several ways to participate in one of the most vibrant sports association in Canada. With over 160 member clubs, 4500 registered athletes, coaches and technical officials, volunteers and thousands of participants taking part in our annual Championship events, we are an association that is athlete-centred, volunteer-based and and community driven.
AO is seeking a unique mix of experience, expertise and individual competency that will assist the Board with fulfilling its governance role while focusing on the future of the association. Relevant core competencies include:
- personal integrity, independence and objectivity;
- ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times;
- can devote time and energy to Committee duties (attend scheduled meetings and assume, at least, one specific function on the committee); and
- able to work effectively toward common goals.
If you are are a member, experience in our sport, and would like to give back, consider volunteering. We are seeking individuals to actively participate on the following Committees:
- Quest For Gold (coaching experience and/or knowledge of the Q4G program essential)
- Hall of Fame (historical knowledge in the sport of athletics in Ontario)
- Awards (current understanding and knowledge of AO Athletic performances)
- Technical (understanding of IAAF rules, AO rule variances, AO Policy and Procedures, etc.)
- Competition (organization, production, marketing, experience and evaluation and assessment skills; regional representation from various AO members)
- Programs and Services (marketing, communications, fundraising, risk, and membership experience)
