Athletics Ontario’s Youth & Senior Championships & B-M-Jr Relays to be held this weekend in conjunction with the Ontario vs Quebec Midget Dual Meet

Athletics Ontario’s Youth & Senior Championships & Relays for Bantams, Midgets & Juniors is set to take place this weekend at the Toronto Track and Field Centre. Events begin Saturday February 14 at 10:00 am with the Walks and Sprint Medley Relays. The Ontario vs Quebec Midget Dual competition begins with field events including the Weight Throw at 9:00 am, followed by the Long Jump, Pole Vault, Shot Put, High Jump and Triple Jump. This meet is co-hosted with the Guelph Track & Field Club, and has attracted experienced international competitors including Gavin Smellie (Flying Angels), TJ Lawrence (G-Force TC) and Project Athletics teammates, Shai-Ann Davis and Crystal Emmanuel.  The Youth-Senior Championship meet will include over 600 competitors, and another 100 Midget aged athletes will be competing in the Ontario vs Quebec Dual Meet. Events to Watch

Event: 60m Men

Event Highlights: Gavin Smellie (Flying Angels) and TJ Lawrence (G-Force TC), members of the 2014 Commonwealth Games and World Indoor Canadian teams, respectively, are the top 2 seeds will face 3rd seeded Aaron Bowman (Unattached).

Scheduled Event Time: Saturday February 14; Semi Finals at 2:50 and Final at 4:20 pm.

Event: 60m Women

Event Highlights:  2014 Commonwealth Games teammates, Shai-Anne Davis and Crystal Emmanuel, both members of Project Athletics will be challenged by young sprinters, Chanice Williams (Flying Angels) and Tameran Defreitas (South Simcoe Dufferin).

Scheduled Event Time: Saturday February 14; Semi Finals at 2:50 and Final at 4:20 pm.

Event: 200m Women and Men

Event Highlights:  Crystal Emmanuel (Project Athletics) will be facing hurdler, Ashlea Maddex (Ottawa Lions TFC) and Tameran Defreitas (South Simcoe Dufferin). Gavin Smellie ( Flying Angel) will line up against Leonae Nichol (York University TC) in the men’s race.

Scheduled Event Time: Sunday February 15; Finals at 4:05 pm.

Important Notice:

Please note that due to new safety restrictions there will be limited access to the competition floor for coaches and athletes during the ON vs QC Weight Throw event set to start at 9:00 am (with warmups at 8:30) on Saturday. The following athletes will be allowed access during the event but they must stay in the safety zone, which is the 60m straight area, until the event has concluded.

  • 5000m and 3000m Walk entrants
  • Sprint Medley Relay
  • Dual Meet Team members – Ontario and Quebec

For others they may check in at the table at the entrance and wait in the lobby or the spectator area until the weight event is over.
