Athletics Ontario Coach Mentorship Program

2022-2023 AO Coach Mentorship Program

Do you want to take your coaching to the next level?

Athletics Ontario will next week be taking applications for potential candidates for the 2022-2023 Coach Mentorship program.

As a mentee, you will be allocated a mentor that will help you in your education process towards certification, as well as offering personal insight and experience. What you can expect:

  • Commitment to your education and personal coaching goals, with a structured plan to help your progress
  • Access to an experienced mentor that will be accessible to you through phone calls, emails, and in person tutoring (where available)
  • Financial assistance towards your educational goals
Mentee applications are available HERE. The deadline to submit your interest is 5:00pm March 25th.

If you are interested in applying, or finding out more information about this program, please contact Athletics Ontario’s coaching coordinator Saheed Khan at [email protected].

This program is a great opportunity to support and develop coaches. It also is making coaches more aware of all the aspects such as program planning, safety planning, and appropriate skills development based on athletes. I feel very grateful to have been included in this and thank my mentor and AO for the opportunity to have done so!”
Key dates:
  • March 25 – MENTEE APPLICATION DEADLINE
  • April 1 – MENTORSHIP PROGRAM COMMENCES

The CAO recognizes that coaches incur many out-of-pocket expenses along their coaching journey, but there are a number of funding opportunities and support programs available to help offset some of these costs. Ontario coaches and PSOs are encouraged to apply for professional development and financing programs year-round.

Up to a maximum of $500 per individual in the fiscal year (April 1-March 31) will be available to cover up to 75% of eligible course registration fees (workshop training) and up to 90% for completion of certification process (portfolio + evaluation).
