Funding for Coaches:

The CAO recognizes that coaches incur many out-of-pocket expenses along their coaching journey, but there are a number of funding opportunities and support programs available to help offset some of these costs. Ontario coaches and PSOs are encouraged to apply for professional development and financing programs year-round. A coach bursary is available up to a maximum of $300 per individual in the fiscal year (April 1, 2019-March 31, 2020) will be available to cover up to 60% of course registration fees (workshop training) and up to 70% for completion of certification process (portfolio + evaluation): https://www.coachesontario.ca/qfg/bursary-program/

QUEST FOR GOLD EXPERTS EXPRESS PROGRAM: Enhancing Coaching Knowledge in Ontario

At no cost to the coach or club, approved applicants are assigned a provincially-endorsed mentor in one of the five specialty areas, who will work directly with the registered coach (or coaches) at their own club or another arranged location. Coaches will be permitted multiple mentor sessions, as long as all meetings between coaches and their assigned mentor fall within the program timelines.

Investors Group Coaching Grant:

  • Focus: grants available for organizations that bring coaches and coach developers of community-based sports together under one roof to learn, train, and network with each other.
  • Amount $ ranges
  • Available to:
    • Community schools
    • Community parks and recreation departments
    • Community sport clubs
    • Community leagues
    • Provincial/territorial coaching associations
    • Provincial/territorial sport organizations
    • National sport organizations

Application deadline: ongoing (*application to be submitted two months before the date of the conference)

Quest for Gold Grant: (This information is provided already above)

  • Focus: grants available for organizations that bring coaches and coach developers of community-based sports together under one roof to learn, train, and network with each other.
  • Amount $ 400 max
  • Available to: Bursaries can only be applied to individual coaches:
    • coaching a Q4G eligible sport
    • working directly with Ontario competitive athletes preparing them for provincial, national and international competition
  • Who complete NCCP training in Competition or Instruction Stream
  • Who paid the fees them self.
