FOUR New Records at Indoor Meet #1

It was a cold one this weekend for our first Indoor Championship of the season. The conditions certainly made things challenging but that didn’t stop our athletes from putting on some fantastic performances, achieving new personal bests, and breaking records.

FOUR new provincial records were set at the meet this weekend, and one also doubled as a new Canadian record. A huge congrats is owed to Michael Sherar, of the University of Toronto Track Club, who ran an incredible 2:09.06 in the Open Men’s 800m, setting a new Canadian record in the M55 age category.

In the Combined Events Championship portion, two new records were set. Firstly, in the U18 Boys Pentathlon, Mark Skerl, of Monte Cristo Track Club, earned the gold medal with a tremendous performance of 3,298 total points earned! Secondly, Izzy Goudros, an unattached athlete, also took home a gold medal with a new provincial record point total of 3,491 in the U18 Girls Pentathlon.

In the field, U15 athlete Kalista Elliott, set a new provincial record in the Girls Triple Jump. Her attempt of 11.60m earned her a first place finish in the event.

Congratulations to these new record holders, as well as all of our other athletes who came out this weekend.
