Katie Anderson was born in Kingston, Jamaica and moved to Canada in 1975. Katie set the Canadian record in the 100m hurdles in 1997 with a time of 19.80, which she later broke twice. Once was at a meet in Zurich in a time of 12.66 and again later in 1999 in a time of 12.61. Katie also received a number of medals, including a bronze medal in the 60m Hurdles at the 1998 World Indoor Championships and a bronze medal in the 100m Hurdles at the 1998 Commonwealth Games. Unfortunately, due to an injury, Katie was unable to achieve better results at the 1999 World Outdoor Championships and the 2000 Olympic Games and retired shortly after.
