AO is searching for a passionate and enthusiastic candidate who is willing to join our growing team. Reporting to the Executive Director, you will be responsible for managing and administrating the Associations technical operations for track & field, road racing and race walking events and competitions. This includes, but is not limited to, implementing AO policies; coordinating Provincial competition fixtures; maintaining Provincial records, rankings and statistics; Provincial Championships meet management (including entries and results); Technical Delegate at all AO Championships; technical liaison to AO Technical Officials; and facilitating the Competition and Technical Committees planning, policy development, and communications. In addition to maintaining and reporting on the competitions facilities database, you’ll ensure that the technical requirements at competition venues meet the Associations standards and that the correct equipment and infrastructure are available for the athletes and those managing or supporting the competition.
You have strong interpersonal skills and can work independently where required. In addition to your program management, organizational and time management skills you have:
- Post Secondary degree in sport or related field
- Minimum 5 – 7 years of experience in a similar capacity
- Proficient with the IAAF technical rules governing the sport of athletics (track & field, road racing and race waking)
- Working knowledge of all events in the sport of athletics and associated risk management
- Familiar with the provincial, national, and international sport delivery systems
- Knowledge of club system, experience in officiating, coaching and administration in athletics
- Must be proficient with the use of computer programs and competition meet management software
- Experience writing grant proposals and developing and managing program budgets
- Ability to develop multiple project plans and execute on time and on budget
- Strong oral and written communication, presentation and administrative skills
- Ability to deal with the Board, professional staff, membership, volunteers and the community at large, in a positive and constructive manner
- Project management, strong logistic, and planning skills are an asset
Salary is commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience, qualifications and pay scale of the Association. Benefits include health, group life, and disability insurance. This role is full-time and located in Toronto. However, during the transition phase with the incumbent the role is part-time.
