On Thursday January 20, 2022, the Government of Ontario announced their plan for gradually easing of public health measures, which will take in effect on January 31, 2022.
Each step of reopening will be separated by 21 days for the province to monitor public health trends.
Below is a summary of the significant impacts to the Athletics Ontario community.
As of January 31st, 2022:
- increasing or maintaining capacity limits at 50 per cent in most indoor public settings, including but not limited to:
- non-spectator areas of facilities used for sports and recreational fitness activities (such as gyms and businesses offering personal fitness training)
- allowing indoor spectator areas of facilities used for sports and recreational fitness activities (such as sporting events), concert venues, and theatres to operate at 50 per cent of the usual seating capacity or 500 people, whichever is less
- Proof of vaccination is required for indoor facility use and participation.
As of February 21st, 2022,
- increasing capacity limits to 100 per cent in the following indoor public settings where proof of vaccination requirements are in effect, including:
- non-spectator areas of facilities used for sports and recreational fitness activities
- At this time, the province will remove the 500-person capacity limits in indoor spectator events, in areas of facilities used for sports and recreational activities.
- Spectator capacity at sporting events, concert venues, and theatres will be 50% capacity on Feb 21st.
- Proof of vaccination is required for indoor facility use and participation
As of March 14th, 2022,
- Ontario will lift all capacity limits in all public settings, but proof of vaccination will be maintained in existing settings.
