We are sad to share the news that club registrar, coach and athlete with the Hamilton Olympic Club, Rhona Trott, passed away last week.
Rhona was a crucial member to the Hamilton Olympic Club for 50 years. She has been an athlete for many many years, continuing to compete in Masters events in her later years, setting numerous provincial and national Masters records.
Rhona set many Canadian records in sprints and hurdles, and also branched out into jumps and throws, and of course, pentathlons. In 2007, she was the OMA Female Masters Athlete of the Year, and runner-up for the same award from CMA. In 2009, she received Honourable Mention in the Running/Racewalking Category from the CMA.
Rhona was inducted into the OMA Hall of Fame in 2011, and was not only to recognize her contributions as an athlete, but also for her mentoring, and administration with the Hamilton Olympic Club, OMA, CMA, Throwers Club, and MTA.
We are deeply saddened by this loss and want to extend our deepest condolences to Rhona’s friends and family.
