It is with regret but warm wishes that Athletics Ontario announces the retirement of Roman Olszewski, effective November 22, 2015. Roman has been responsible for managing Athletics Ontario’s technical operations for 36 years. Over the years, Roman has found a multitude of ways to contribute to the sport of track and field, ensuring that his reach extended far beyond the office walls of Atheltics Ontario itself. As a Meet Director, the author of OTFA Step-Up to Excellence program, and a columnist for Athletics magazine since 1979, Roman has chosen to give back to a sport he is passionate about. Athletics Ontario wants to congratulate Roman on his well-deserved retirement.
Taking over the role of Manager Competitions, Technical Specifications and Logistics is Randolph Fajardo. With a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from York University, Randolph brings a diverse knowledge of computer programming and software platforms to his new role. In addition to his photo timing experience and expertise with managing the Athetlics Canada Direct database system for entries and results, Randolph has also assisted in the coordination and delivery of Athletics Ontario events, including National Qualifier meets, Provincial Championships and the Ontario Summer Games.
Should you wish to reach out to Roman in the days leading up to his retirement, please feel free to contact him at: [email protected]. Over the next few weeks, Roman will spend time tying up loose ends before Randolph assumes the role as his successor.
Athletics Ontario owes Roman Olszewski a debt of appreciation for his leadership and innovation, and we hope he will enjoy directing his energies into his other varied interests, while also keeping the sport of athletics close to heart.
