Athletics Ontario promotes road and trail running, and provides runners of all ages and abilities the opportunity to achieve personal excellence through programs and services founded on the principles of safety and fair play.
The AO logo is your guide to quality racing, as it is the official sanction symbol of AO. By displaying this logo and sanction number on your race website, you signify compliance with AO standards of quality. An extensive checklist of factors is questioned, like the availability of medical personnel, course marking, course measurement, fluid replacement stations, separation from vehicle traffic, washrooms, availability of results, etc. Watch for this logo when making your choice!

Race sanctioning process provides a simple, effective method to ensure their safety and protection of runners, race promoters and municipalities. The sanctioning process sets up a number of safety related criteria that a race has to meet and supports the sanctioned races with affordable insurance that covers the perils associated with a road race.

Sanctioned races may also purchase event insurance. A $50 insurance administration fee, plus $1.50 per non-AO participant, will be applicable following the race.
