University of Toronto TC wins 5th Consecutive Club Title

The University of Toronto Track Club (UTTC) showed its strength across all age divisions in capturing its 5th consecutive Overall Indoor Club Championship title.   Going into the final meet – last weekend’s Bantam-Midget –Junior Championships – UTTC already had an almost insurmountable lead. At the BMJ’s they won the Junior and Midget Divisions and placed 4th in the Bantam.

UTTC scored 79 points in the Junior division placing them ahead of Laurel Creek (73) and London-Western (37.5). In the Midget category UTTC had 52 to Flying Angels’ 43 and Durham Legion Athletics’ 37. Two other clubs, St.Thomas Legion and Newmarket Huskies, had 36 points while Niagara Regional Athletics finished with 35.5 to place 6th.

United Tamil Sports Club amassed 34 points in the Bantam category to win their first AO club championship. Not far behind were Durham Dragons (30), St.Thomas Legion (29), UTTC (28) and Newmarket Huskies (26).

Although the Youth- Senior Championships were held earlier, final standings could not be compiled until the Youth and Senior relay events had been completed at the BMJ’s.

In the end, Project Athletics easily won the Senior Division, collecting 65 points. It was that club’s first AO team championship. Etobicoke’s 36 points put them into 2nd spot and York University TC placed 3rd with 28.

UTTC took the Youth title, scoring 85 points to Laurel Creek’s 59 and London-Western’s 47.

University of Toronto topped the overall standings with a score of 269 points. Laurel Creek (171), Project Athletics (144), Durham Dragons Athletics (134), London-Western (124.5) and Flying Angels (118) rounded out the top 6.
